Adelaide Oval - Cricket Venue | ICC Cricket World Cup 2015

Adelaide Oval - Cricket Venue | ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Adelaide is the state capital of South Australia. Situated on the coast, with kilometres of white sandy beaches, this elegant city is known for its colonial stone architecture, remarkable gardens, sporting events, lively festivals and incredible sense of space.

The city centre is structured around a simple plan: a one square mile city centre and lots of open space. The streets sit in a grid, surrounded by a ring of parkland in which sits the iconic Adelaide Oval.

The city is also known as Australia’s wine capital, with the Barossa, McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills wine regions on the city fringe with others including the Clare Valley and Coonawarra within half a day’s drive.

Venue Details:

For cricket fans, Adelaide Oval is practically a sacred ground, rich in sporting history and charmed with genteel heritage. From its beginnings in 1871, Adelaide Oval has hosted some of cricket’s defining moments.

Adelaide Oval was the home ground for Sir Donald Bradman for most of his career.  Today it is home to the South Australian Cricket Association and the Adelaide Strikers team in the Big Bash League.

The South Australian Government has invested in a significant reconstruction of Adelaide Oval that will be completed in early 2014, expanding the venue’s capacity, providing the latest in spectator experience, while maintaining the historic spectator hill beneath the Moreton Bay fig trees.
